What the job involves

Veterinary assistants keep the treatment area moving: restraining patients, prepping exam rooms and surgical packs, feeding and walking hospitalized animals, running samples, cleaning and sterilizing, and helping techs and doctors with whatever the next appointment needs. There is no national license; most clinics train on the job, and many assistants go on to an accredited program to become techs.
