For practice and hospital managers
Your credentialed tech vacancy will stay open about a year. Here is a place that only techs, assistants and CSRs read.
AAHA's survey put the average credentialed tech vacancy at 12.8 months and the average assistant vacancy at 9.7. Every day of that costs you appointments. VetTeamJobs lists only tech, assistant, CSR, kennel and manager jobs, no DVM posts, so everyone here is looking for exactly the role you are filling, in your state, with the facts they would otherwise ask in the working interview already on the card.

The problem, in the manager's numbers
You know the shape of it. The posting goes up on Indeed and the applicants are assistants applying for the credentialed role, people who no-show the working interview, and someone from a warehouse who likes dogs. Meanwhile the techs you want are not applying anywhere; they are at a clinic across town that pays four dollars more, and they will move when a friend tells them about an opening. AVMA's practice-manager guidance says employee referrals are the best candidate source, and that a vacancy at the median 44-day hire costs about $42,122 in lost tech value before training. AAHA's 2022 survey said credentialed tech positions stay open 12.8 months on average, assistants 9.7.
The audience research behind this site read 400 posts and 36 full threads where techs, assistants and CSRs talk about job hunting. They use Indeed because it is the default, and they mock it because it mixes DVM and clinic roles, tags every job "Monday to Friday," and shows nothing about what the clinic is like. What they ask each other, and what they go into the working interview to find out: the shift pattern, who trains and for how long, whether the credential is used, how many techs per doctor, how many appointments per doctor, and whether raises happen. Pay is on the list. It is not the whole list.
What a VetTeamJobs post includes
- 1A structured facts panel with the eight items below, each stated by you or shown as "not stated" so candidates know what to ask. Nobody else shows these.
- 2Its own page with your description, requirements and benefits, indexed and marked up for Google for Jobs, with your pay range shown beside the BLS state ladder.
- 3Cards on the board, your state page, your role page and the filtered lists techs actually use: ER, overnights, no experience, part time, relief, independent clinics.
- 4A place in the Tuesday alert email to subscribers in your state and role.
- 5A direct Apply button to your application page or email. Candidates apply with you, not through us.
- 630 days live, edits by email, takedown when you fill it, and a report when it ends.
The eight facts the posting form asks for
These are the questions techs ask in the working interview, in the order they come up in their own threads. Answering them on the posting is how you get fewer no-shows and more of the right applicants: a candidate who has read your ratio and your schedule before applying has already screened herself.
1Schedule and shift pattern
Days, swings, overnights; 5x8, 4x10, 3x12; weekends; whether leaving on time is normal.
2Who trains, and for how long
A named role (lead tech, hospital manager) and a length. "A month" is the number that loses people.
3Credential required, preferred or not
And what a credentialed tech does here that an assistant does not.
4Techs and assistants per DVM
On a typical day. This is the first thing a tech counts in a working interview.
5Appointments per DVM per day
Or cases per shift in ER. Candidates already know the range; stating yours is a signal.
6Raise cadence
Annual review, or not. The forums say raises come from switching clinics; a stated cadence is rare and noticed.
7Pay, as a number
Shown first, beside the state ladder. Not required; posts that list it get the badge and the filter.
8Benefits in numbers
PTO days, premium share, CE dollars, license fee, pet discount, uniform allowance.
Only the role, location, description and apply link are required. Every fact you leave blank shows as "not stated" on the card; every one you fill is a reason to apply. Today 69 percent of the aggregated jobs on the board state a wage. A post that states all eight stands out on its own.
Who reads VetTeamJobs
Techs, assistants, CSRs, kennel staff and practice managers who searched for a clinic job in their state, or who came for a guide (the working interview, license transfer by state, moving from GP to ER) and set a weekly alert. The board, by role, today:
3,593
vet tech jobs open
2,040
veterinary assistant jobs open
1,197
veterinary receptionist and client service jobs open
276
veterinary practice manager jobs open
409
kennel and animal care jobs open
201 employers across 50 states, refreshed daily. 31 guides written for the audience, not for clinics, which is why they read them.
The proof you will want
Alert subscribers in your state by role, views of your post, apply clicks sent, and days to first apply click. We report these to you after your post runs, from our own analytics, not estimates. We do not publish subscriber counts we cannot stand behind, so we will not quote one here.
Honest about reach
This is a young board. It is not Indeed and does not claim to be. What it is: the only place a tech can filter to ER, overnights or no-experience clinic jobs in her state and see the ratio before she applies. Clinics that state the facts get the clicks; we will tell you if yours did not.
A better-looking post, for free
dvm360's advice to managers is that most vet job ads look alike. Ours asks you for the six facts no ad states, and shows them in a panel. The preview is on the post form before you pay anything.

The objections, answered plainly
"We get enough from Indeed."
Then keep it. The question is whether the applicants are techs. Indeed mixes DVM, warehouse and clinic roles, and its own vet-industry critics call the pool "general." Here, every reader filtered for a clinic role. Post the same opening in both places and compare the apply clicks; we send you ours.
"Nobody's heard of you."
True, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The guides rank for the questions techs type (working interview, license transfer by state, GP to ER), which is how a tech ends up on your post without having heard of us either. Reach grows with the audience; the facts panel works on day one.
"Techs are on Facebook, not job boards."
Partly right. The groups are where passive candidates are, and a post with the pay, shift and ratio stated is the kind of post those groups welcome; share your VetTeamJobs link there. A Facebook post is gone in a day. Your page here stays indexed for 30.
"Our postings are already on our ATS."
Send us the feed. We ingest ATS and careers-page feeds for groups so nothing is retyped, and we add the facts panel on top. Email the address on the contact page.
"The owner won't let us publish pay."
Not required. Every job page shows the BLS state range anyway, so the candidate already has a number in her head; yours would only replace the guess. If you cannot list it, fill the other seven facts. They are what she asks in the interview.
"Working interviews and no-shows waste our time."
The facts panel is the pre-screen. A candidate who has read that you run 4x10s with overnights, two techs per DVM and a six-week trained onboarding has either opted in or opted out before you spend a shift on her.
Questions clinics ask
What does it cost?
Independent clinics post free through January 31, 2027 under the Founding Clinic offer. Otherwise a Standard post is $79 and a Featured post is $149, each live for 30 days. A free post can be upgraded to Featured for $49.
How fast does my post go live?
Within 1 business day of receiving your details. We email you the live link.
What if nobody applies?
If a paid post brings no apply clicks in 30 days, reply to your receipt and we rerun it free for another 30. We also tell you what the posting left blank; the posts that state schedule, trainer, ratio and pay get the most clicks, and we will say so if yours did not.
Can I edit or pull the post?
Yes. Reply to your confirmation email with the change (pay range, schedule, description, apply link) and we update it, usually the same business day. Filled the role early? Tell us and it comes down.
What roles qualify?
Credentialed and non-credentialed vet techs, veterinary assistants, receptionists and CSRs, practice and hospital managers, and kennel and animal care staff. No DVM or associate veterinarian posts; that rule is what keeps the audience here.
How do candidates apply?
The Apply button goes to your own application page or email. Applications come to you directly. We do not sit between you and the candidate and we do not resell resumes.
Should I list a pay range?
Yes. Every job page on the site shows the BLS typical pay for the role in your state, and candidates compare your posting against it whether you list a number or not. Posts with a listed range get the "lists pay" badge on their cards and show up in the "only jobs with listed pay" filter. It is not required.
We already post on Indeed. Why this?
Keep Indeed. This is the place a tech goes when she wants only clinic jobs and wants to know the shift, the ratio and who trains before she applies. Your post here carries those facts in a structured panel that Indeed does not have, in front of people who filtered for your state, your role and your setting.
Can you take our ATS or careers page feed?
Yes for groups with several hospitals. Email us the feed or the careers URL and we will set up ingestion so your openings stay current without anyone retyping them.
Hiring your first assistant and not sure how to train one? Our no-experience guide is written for the candidate and tells you what she has been told to expect. For Tech Week, what techs actually want is the version your staff would send you.
Post the opening
About five minutes if you have the eight facts to hand. Live within 1 business day. We email the link, and the report when it ends.
