By 7:45 a.m., your first exam room is set: treats ready, a towel on the table, the chart already reviewed. Your patient walks in nervous, and you have him calm and weighed before the doctor even knocks. Then it’s the next room, and the next, and every appointment stays on time because you’re always one step ahead. That’s a day as a Veterinary Assistant at Harbor Point Animal Hospital in Mooresville, the 2025 AAHA Accredited Practice of the Year.

About the Practice
We’ve been AAHA accredited since 2017, and in 2025 we were named AAHA’s Accredited Practice of the Year. As a full-service hospital, we offer everything from wellness care to surgery and dentistry for companion animals, and fear-free handling is part of how we care for every patient. In 2023, Lake Norman Publications honored us with a Lake Normy Award. We’re located in Mooresville, close to coffee shops, walkable parks, and plenty of restaurants to try on your break.

• Calm, low-stress exams thanks to careful restraint and fear-free handling

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 1-2 years of experience in a veterinary setting
• Experience with patient restraint and exam room support
• Availability for four shifts per week, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, including about one Saturday every four weeks

Preferred:

• Fear-free handling experience, or an openness to learning it
• Strong customer service and clear communication
• Organized, adaptable, and a true team player

Schedule

• Full-time, Day shift
• Four days per week, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
• About one Saturday every four weeks (1 to 2 per month)
• No holiday shifts required

Compensation
Compensation for this role ranges from $17.00 to $20.00 per hour, based on experience and role alignment.
