Job Description Veterinary Assistant – Pharmacy & Clinical Support About the Role We are a holistic/ integrative practice and utilize a fair amount of Chinese herbs in addition to acupuncture, spinal manipulation, and "normal" medicine. We are looking for a motivated, organized, and team-oriented Veterinary Assistant to take ownership of our online pharmacy program while providing hands-on clinical support throughout the hospital. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both client communication and patient care. The primary responsibility of this position is to promote and support our online pharmacy, helping clients understand the convenience of ordering their pets’ medications and products through our preferred online platform. This includes responding to client requests promptly, encouraging online pharmacy use, and helping ensure clients have a positive and seamless experience. When pharmacy responsibilities allow, this individual will serve as an extra set of hands throughout the hospital, assisting the veterinary team with patient care, appointments, and daily workflow. We are looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative, identifying opportunities to help, and keeping things moving in a busy veterinary environment. This position is ideal for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who enjoys having a specialized area of responsibility, or someone with a pharmacy, retail, or customer service background who is interested in growing their veterinary skills. Key Responsibilities Online Pharmacy Management & Client Communication Promote our online pharmacy as the preferred option for clients purchasing medications and other pet products. Respond to online pharmacy inquiries and client requests in a timely, professional manner. Educate clients on the convenience and benefits of ordering through our online pharmacy. Help clients navigate the online ordering process and resolve routine questions or concerns. Monitor outstanding requests and follow up to help ensure a smooth, timely experience. Take ownership of the pharmacy workflow, look for opportunities to improve client engagement, and help increase online pharmacy utilization. Communicate medication-related questions or concerns to the appropriate veterinary team member. Veterinary Assistant & Clinical Support Provide additional support during appointments by helping prepare rooms, assist with patient intake, and keep appointments moving efficiently. Safely restrain and handle patients during examinations and procedures. Assist with venipuncture, sample collection, laboratory testing, and radiographs as trained and authorized. Help maintain clean, organized examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment. Assist team members with patient care and other veterinary assistant duties as needed. Recognize when the hospital team needs support and proactively step in to help manage workflow during busy periods. Teamwork & Hospital Operations Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service team members to support efficient daily operations. Help identify workflow bottlenecks and communicate when additional assistance or task prioritization is needed. Demonstrate initiative, organization, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Maintain a professional, compassionate approach with clients, patients, and coworkers. What We’re Looking For A strong interest in veterinary medicine, pharmacy operations, or both. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage follow-ups and competing priorities. A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of a project or process. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and shifting between pharmacy responsibilities and clinical support. A collaborative attitude and a genuine desire to help the entire hospital team succeed. Veterinary assisting experience is preferred, but we are open to candidates with pharmacy, retail, or customer service experience who are eager to learn and develop their veterinary skills. Why This Opportunity? This role offers the chance to develop a specialized area of expertise while remaining involved in hands-on veterinary care. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the client experience, help improve pharmacy utilization, and support the clinical team in providing excellent patient care. If you enjoy staying organized, helping people, solving problems, and being the person your team can count on, we would love to hear from you.
