About this job

Description

At Richmond Animal Hospital, we're building something special.$1500 Sign-on Bonus!

We're a locally owned, family-centered small animal practice that believes exceptional patient care starts with an exceptional team. From wellness care and surgery to dentistry and end-of-life support, we're proud to provide high-quality medicine while creating meaningful relationships with the people and pets we serve.

As we continue growing, we're looking for a Veterinary Technician who wants more than just a job. We're looking for someone who wants to be part of a team that works hard, supports one another, continues learning, and genuinely enjoys coming to work each day.

Less than a year after transitioning to new ownership, we were honored to be a finalist as Best Animal Hospital/Clinic in the Seven Daysies, an achievement we're incredibly proud of and one that reflects the dedication of our entire team.

At Richmond Animal Hospital, we know that a strong, happy team leads to exceptional patient and client care. That's why we invest in our staff through competitive compensation, continuing education, professional development, a healthy work-life balance, and a benefits package designed to truly support our people.

We believe it's possible to love veterinary medicine without sacrificing your personal life. We work hard when we're here, but we also believe in having time to be present for our families, hobbies, and the things that matter most outside of work. Veterinary medicine is demanding, and we believe our team deserves the opportunity to rest, recharge, and disconnect when they're off the clock.

Benefits Include:

  • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • 4 Weeks of Paid Time Off
  • 7 Paid Holidays
  • 4-Day Work Week
  • No Nights, Weekends, or Holidays
  • Pet Care Discount
  • 30 Hours of Paid Volunteer Time Off
  • Ongoing Continuing Education (CE) Opportunities
  • CE Reimbursement
  • 401(k) Eligibility After 1 Year
  • Scrubs Provided
  • Community-focused events and staff/family gatherings throughout the year
  • Locally owned and operated

Why We're Different

At Richmond Animal Hospital, we take pride in supporting our surrounding communities and for us, it's something we actively do year-round.

Giving back is woven into the fabric of Richmond Animal Hospital through community sponsorships, charitable donations, volunteer efforts, rescue partnerships, fundraising events, and the launch of our own nonprofit organization through the Veterinary Care Foundation. Our commitment extends well beyond our hospital walls.

We're proud to be a locally owned practice that believes great veterinary medicine includes being a good neighbor, supporting local organizations, and making a meaningful difference in the community we call home. We encourage our team to be part of that mission, including providing paid volunteer time, because caring for our community is just as important as caring for the pets who walk through our doors.

The Role

We're looking for someone who enjoys learning, values teamwork, takes pride in their technical skills, and genuinely cares about the people and pets they serve. The right person will be eager to grow professionally, contribute to a positive hospital culture, and help us continue building the kind of practice that clients trust and team members are proud to be part of.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures
  • Perform venipuncture, place IV catheters, collect diagnostic samples, and administer medications and vaccines
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient recovery during surgical and dental procedures
  • Obtain radiographs and perform laboratory testing
  • Maintain accurate medical records and support treatment planning
  • Educate clients on preventive care, medications, treatment recommendations, and post-procedure care
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative clinic culture
  • Help provide exceptional care and hospitality to every patient and client

Who You Are

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced or emotionally challenging environment
  • Someone who enjoys working hard, supporting their teammates, and being part of a positive workplace

If you're looking for a locally owned practice that values its people as much as its patients, believes in work-life balance, invests in professional growth, and is deeply committed to its community, we'd love to meet you.

Come help us shape the next chapter of Richmond Animal Hospital!
