About this job

Chatham Small Animal Hospital is looking for a dependable, hardworking Kennel Attendant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping a veterinary hospital clean, organized, sanitary, and comfortable for our patients, clients, and team.

What You'll Do

Cleaning and maintaining the hospital is a primary responsibility of this position. You will help ensure our facility meets high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the day.

Responsibilities include:

  • Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting kennels, runs, cages, treatment areas, and other hospital spaces
  • Cleaning up urine, feces, hair, and other messes promptly and thoroughly
  • Washing and changing bedding, blankets, towels, and other linens
  • Emptying trash and maintaining clean waste areas
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other general cleaning duties
  • Keeping floors, walls, doors, windows, and surfaces clean and presentable
  • Maintaining organized and sanitary animal housing areas
  • Feeding and providing fresh water to hospitalized and boarding animals as directed
  • Assisting with laundry and maintaining adequate supplies of clean bedding and towels
  • Restocking cleaning and animal care supplies
  • Following all hospital cleaning, sanitation, and safety protocols
  • Assisting the veterinary team with other basic hospital and animal-care tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

  • Someone who genuinely enjoys cleaning and takes pride in doing it well
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team
  • Comfortable working around dogs, cats, bodily fluids, odors, and messes
  • Able to stay on task and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to move quickly while still maintaining high cleaning standards
  • Comfortable with physical work, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and cleaning
  • Previous veterinary, kennel, animal care, or cleaning experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must be willing to work some weekends and holidays as needed

Why Join Us?

You'll be an important part of the hospital team and play a key role in keeping our patients safe, comfortable, and well cared for. If you're someone who likes to stay busy, notices what needs to be cleaned without being asked, and takes pride in leaving a space better than you found it, we'd love to meet you.
