Our team works collaboratively in a positive and growth-focused environment—and we’re looking for someone who shares that same passion and drive.

About the Role:

As a Kennel Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring the comfort, cleanliness, and safety of our boarding, grooming, and hospitalized patients. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in animal care.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing daily care, feeding, and exercise for animals in the hospital and boarding facility
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment (kennels, cages, runs, wards)
  • Bathing and basic grooming of pets
  • Monitoring animal behavior and alerting veterinary staff of any concerns
  • Assisting team members with basic handling and animal husbandry
  • Supporting a positive, team-oriented culture
  • Frequently lift and carry patients weighing 50 lbs., and walk/handle patients weighing up to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently on tasks/duties assigned by your immediate supervisor

What We’re Looking For:

  • A love for animals and a strong work ethic
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the field of veterinary care
  • Previous animal care experience is a plus, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person!

Schedule & Benefits:

  • Full-time position
  • Flexible scheduling available
  • Rotating weekends required
  • Benefits for full-time employees include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k, paid time off, pet care discounts, and more.

If you’re ready to join a compassionate and collaborative veterinary team that values both pets and people, we’d love to hear from you!

Apply today with your resume and start your journey in animal care with Animal Health Center of Madison.
